RTP Environmental Associates, Inc. is offering a flexible continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) and stack testing workshop designed to accommodate the needs of both electric utility and industrial sources.  The course is intended for anyone who works with CEMS or stack tests or the data they create including environmental managers, environmental engineers, CEMS technicians, auditors, and government agencies.

The complete Summer 2025 workshop is three days in length but provides the flexibility to select any combination of sessions depending on the attendee's interests.  The workshop will be adapted based on attendees present and will provide ample opportunity for questions and discussion of related issues in a group setting or one-on-one with subject matter experts. Registration Cost

Advanced registration cost is $500 per session until July 3, 2025.  Regular registration cost ($600/session) will apply after this date.

Multiple employees from the same company may qualify for discounted rates by contacting Karen Santala.

Government employees automatically receive discounted rates when selecting the 'Government' registration option below.

Refund Policy

Refunds must be requested via email.  There are no cancellation/transfer fees if your cancellation request is received more than 30 days prior to the first day of the workshop.  Cancellation/transfer fees may apply if your request is received within 30 days prior to the workshop.  Please contact Karen Santala at [email protected].

RTP Environmental will promptly notify all registrants if a workshop is canceled.  If a workshop is canceled, RTP Environmental is not liable for any expenses incurred by the registrant other than the full refund of the registration fee.

Materials Provided

Registration includes a printed version of the course outline and hand-outs. Electronic versions of the reference materials will be provided through SharePoint or similar web-based document library system. A Certificate of Completion will be provided to all workshop attendees documenting training hours. You must attend all workshop sessions for which you are registered and be present for distribution of certificates at the completion of each session.

Registration includes refreshments during breaks each day.  Breakfast is included for hotel guests and lunch can be purchased from nearby off-site locations. Hotel reservations can be made at the same location as the workshop by clicking on "Lodging and Hotel" link above.

Course Times

The workshop will start each day at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Please plan to arrive early on your first day of attendance for registration which starts at 7:30 a.m. each day.

  • NSPS/MACT CEMS Requirements (8/5/2025 - 8 AM - 5 PM)

    NSPS/MACT CEMS Requirements (8/5/2025 - 8 AM - 5 PM)

    This session will focus on EPA's Part 60 (New Source Performance Standards) and Part 63 (National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) monitoring and reporting requirements. The session will include a description of types of continuous monitoring systems, measurement fundamentals, and siting requirements. The session is also useful for permit or consent decree-based monitoring requirements that incorporate Part 60 or Part 63. The material will be adapted based on the applicable subparts and industries of course attendees and will address the performance specifications, quality assurance activities, and reporting requirements for each Subpart including but not limited to boilers, turbines, flares, and fuel gas monitoring and reporting. This session will apply to both electric utility and non-utility sources.

  • Stack Testing Fundamentals (8/6/2025 - 8 AM - 5 PM)

    Stack Testing Fundamentals (8/6/2025 - 8 AM - 5 PM)

    This session features a full day of training on the fundamentals of commonly performed EPA Reference Methods (RM) including sampling site selection, flow and moisture methods, instrumental methods, and isokinetic sampling methods including filterable and condensable particulate matter methods. The session does not provide qualified stack testing individual (QSTI) accreditation, but rather focuses on organizing and overseeing a successful stack testing program and reviewing stack test data for accuracy and consistency. Accurate stack test data are a critical component of any successful air program. Any source that is required to have stack testing performed will benefit from the informative and interactive course material.

    Part 75/MATS CEMS Requirements (8/7/2025 - 8 AM - 5 PM)

    This session is an in depth discussion of EPA's Part 75 monitoring and reporting requirements, which apply to affected sources under the Acid Rain Program, the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), and various state and regional programs (e.g. SIP Call, RGGI). The material will also address the monitoring and reporting requirements in the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) including recent regulatory updates. The session will also include a summary and discussion of recent regulatory actions impacting electric generating utilities. Although designed for utility sources, many non-utility sources will find value in this session if they are affected sources under CSAPR or regional budget programs, are otherwise required to follow Part 75 monitoring provisions, or are required to continuously monitor mercury or particulate matter.
